NEW PALESTINE — The Arabian girls wrestling team began its season competing in the New Palestine Dragons Women’s Invitational tournament at New Palestine on Saturday, Nov. 5.

The team finished 14th of 45 teams, with many of the Arabians wrestling their first career matches.

All eight wrestlers one at least one of their matches for the day.

Returning wrestler Julia Heatherly and newcomer Jaida Jones led the Arabian effort. Heatherly went 3-2 with three falls including a pin at 1:22 to earn a seventh-place finish.

Jones won two matches by fall. Her pin in 17 seconds helped propel her to a third-place finish. Jones was named by the coaches as Wrestler of the Meet.

Clare Bowman, Savannah Goss, Kalli Stock, Lillien Faircloth, Nashya Lacy and Gabriella McKinney each won one or more matches during the day.

The girls compete Nov. 12 at Purdue Polytechnic.
